Introduction and Learning Objectives
RACES Writing Strategy for Constructed Responses
The video takes students deeper into using the RACES writing strategy beyond simple recall and identification of the steps of the process. Prior to the video, the student must read the passage prepared for the topic and choose which sentence option out of three choices best satisfies using the RACES strategy for this particular writing prompt and text. The lesson requires students to evaluate the choices, pushing them to greater depths of knowledge. Project 3 Student Learning Outcome: Given a text and three options for each step in the RACES Writing Strategy, students will choose the correct option as it relates to the writing strategy and topic with at least 80% accuracy.
DIRECTIONS: Read the following passage before completing the video lesson.

Techniques
-
Essential Graphics on Title Page (edit template, add second text layer, align text, stretch text, select and thicken stroke, transform (toggle)
-
Original video shots (zamboni and hockey player). Rule of thirds applied. Zamboni - the lower yellow line of the rink is shot on upper third line rather than a center horizon. Hockey player is on the right third with eyes at upper third horizontal line with lead space toward the middle, open area of the ice rink.
-
Zamboni-long shot to draw attention to the setting of the ice rink. Allowed the zamboni to drive off screen to set opening--purposely no pan, tilt, or dolly.
-
Hockey player - solo near close up at eye level and over the shoulder-- not so much to create confrontation rather than anticipation and excitement the player was feeling at the start of the game that I want the viewer to feel at the start of the video lesson.
-
Audio music track applied behind title and intro video clips with fade at start of screencast lesson. Music fades up at the end of lesson and into end credits.
-
Audio sound effect of goal horn applied to a third audio track with keys applied and manipulated to fade.
-
Transitions (dip to black, cross dissolve, dip to white, iris)
-
Screen recording of Prezi video lesson with programmed animations to create movement.
-
Essential Graphics on Credits page (create, edit, and delete text layers, align text, move text)
-
Scale and reposition video lesson in Premiere.
